Aeroacoustics
In Cascade Technologies’s Large Eddy Simulation (LES) aeroacoustic module, the important energy-containing structures are captured directly, leading to a precise description of the sound sources location and strength. Detailed comparisons of these aeroacoustic simulations with experimental data and noise measurements have demonstrated the effectiveness of Large Eddy Simulation in providing comprehensive information about the noise generation mechanism. In our gallery, a few applications are shown for the aerospace & defense industry, including jet and rotorcraft noise. This is critical specially for military applications, as noise reduction techniques have a direct impact on the health and safety of all the people involved. Another relevant application shown is automotive mirror noise. Aerodynamic noise is usually referred as the number one complaint from automotive customers: however, given its transient/unsteady nature, it has proven very expensive to simulate so far.
